While most of the graphics have been updated with increased texture fidelity and upscaling to 4k, most of the actual mechanics have been untouched. World map play is way simpler, yet quite in depth. Total War: Rome Remastered is, for the majority of the gameplay, almost exactly the same as the original Rome: Total War from almost two decades ago. Combat is fast, quick, battle often last 10 minutes max on normal speed. Historically quite unaccurate (bronze age egypt, spain unified, gault unified etc.) Like other total wars of that era, about a dozen major factions, with 'minor' factions being represented as rebel cities. This game is played faster, map is a little bit smaller, but if you are not particullary interested in central asia or scotland, no big deal. Rome Remastered, based on 2004's Total war Rome (1), is more arcady, with fast combat, powerfull morale play, strategy based battles. Tho I am open to suggestions for changing some aspects of the comparison.

As someone who enjoys both of them and isn't blinded by eighter nostalgia or the buggy mess of a release (no ofense, those are legit reasons imo to favor one over the other) I'll try to make a comparison:īefore that tho: This is MY opinion, you are free to disagree, and there will be things we will disagree on.
